OG Slick
Born in Honolulu and based in Los Angeles since 1986, Slick is a pioneer of West Coast graffiti and streetwear culture. Influenced by American and Japanese pop culture, his satirical style has appeared in music, fashion, public art, and fine art worldwide. From Ice Cube’s Who’s the Mack video to Pharcyde’s Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde album cover, his early commercial work paralleled his innovations in spray techniques and character design.
Slick’s practice spans murals, installations, toys, apparel, and sculpture, always centered on aerosol as his medium of choice. Notable works include the Slick Hand Luke mural in Long Beach and the Big Smiling Aloha mural in Honolulu. His collaborations range from Adidas, Levi’s, and Disney to the LA Lakers, Mercedes, and even Roger Waters.
Through satire, parody, and a fascination with cultural decay, Slick continues to challenge norms and inspire new generations.
