Vintage Entenmann’s Coffee Cake 25 White (LE) - Regular Edition
About this poster
In early 2022, after the death of baked goods scion Charles Entenmann, I posted to Facebook a nostalgic reminiscence of the Entenmann’s cakes I grew up with at home in the 70s-80s. I mentioned the large quantities of milk consumed, and how a butter knife “lived in the box”. The laws of social media can be surprising… the post was widely engaged with, and this turn of phrase quickly became a meme on internet sites.
The Entenmann’s cakes of yore held a particular charm… just this side of classy, affordable, honest, delicious. No cavernous spaces in the boxes hidden by the box window, still a sense of old world taste and principles. Many flavors have come and gone, and though the company still offers coffee cake, there’s an undeniable appeal to the old packaging and proportions (and of course the original recipe). Each giclee print is one of an edition of 500, printed on archival Hahnemuhle paper, signed and numbered by the artist.
