So much of David’s work to me is about our relationship with ourselves and how we coexist in a world that feels unfamiliar. It’s about building community with others through shared experiences, and the alienation and anxieties of modern life. While communicating and understanding each other can be difficult, something I find comfort in is the universal language of shapes, color, and pattern. It’s through sharing these forms of expression that I feel most connected to others.
I used various design elements from David’s solo work to create the visual language for this poster. The photo frames from ‘Feelings’, yellow spots from ‘Rei Momo’, multi-color stripes from the packaging of ‘Look Into the Eyeball’, and a handful of references from Who Is The Sky?, including David’s new sculpture suit and the LP spine design, which can be seen along the poster border.
If you know me, you know it’s no secret how much David’s work & Talking Heads mean to me. It’s a body of work that’s unapologetic in all forms. A true artist and legacy of our lifetime and beyond. ⭐️🌌💐🩷
