This vibrant original 1967 poster promotes the only Fillmore Auditorium performance by legendary South African jazz musician Hugh Masekela. Often referred to as the Father of South African Jazz, Masekela was a renowned composer and master of the trumpet, trombone, and flugelhorn. He earned three Grammy nominations over the course of his influential career and rose to prominence during this era with the release of his pop-jazz hit Up, Up and Away. The concert featured on this poster took place between the events advertised on the BG-50 and BG-51 Fillmore posters, making it a uniquely timed and historically significant artifact from the peak of the San Francisco music scene.
