"I wanted a Texas themed image. It was a no brainer to pick the armadillo....but it wasn't Texas enough. So I went ahead and added the Monarch Butterfly (state insect), prickly pear cactus (state plant), a "Lone Star" heart on the armadillo, and finally some horse crippler cactus (native to Texas) to balance out the design." - BK
