About this poster
"'Journey in the Clouds No. 1' depicts a row of three, gleaming escalators, leading up from an underground space. The top of the stairs has been obscured by Chengxiang's characteristic clouds, laced with veinlike strands of bright colour, to visually represent the dreamlike spaces of the unconscious.
On the central staircase, slowly ascending towards the unknown destination, stands a black and white zebra, for a beautiful juxtaposition against the puffs of colour. "Journey in the Clouds No. 1" is about pure, visual power: Chengxiang doesn't ask his viewers to read his panting or to make logical conclusions, but to revel in the strangeness of the unconscious and creative mind."
