"Blinded By Ink" is the letterpress sequel to Welker’s Poster Geek, originally created for the 2009 Mock Show in Miami. Produced in an edition of only 30 pieces, it is printed on luxurious 600 gsm Crane Lettra card stock, with a deep letterpress impression that gives the work remarkable depth and tactile presence.
The piece tells the story of a poster collector whose obsession has drained his wallet at a show, leaving him unable to buy his girlfriend even a soda. Her body language and the “Poster Geek” speech bubble capture her frustration and his single-minded devotion to collecting, creating a witty yet biting social commentary on the balance between passion and personal relationships.
Blending ZAP Comix-inspired underground aesthetics with mid-century Americana, Welker delivers a scene that is both humorous and timeless.
